Chai Masala is a name commonly used for a black tea blend, commonly using warm spices. My orange chai masala uses a base of estate grown Assam Buhkial black tea, then mixed by weight with dried slices of organic oranges, and hand crushed whole spices.
The street vendor method of preparation is to add the chai tea mixture to a pot with a pour spout and swirl at a boil with equal parts water and milk, then strain it into a cup and add sugar or honey to taste. My at home method is to load a mesh tea ball with the chai, then swirl it in a small pot at a boil with 2 part water and 1 part milk or 1/2 and 1/2, then pour it into a warmed cup that contains a teaspoon full of sweetened condensed milk, like eagle brand. I open the can and empty it into a glass or plastic sealable container and store it in the fridge. It literally keeps forever.
In my TEA SHOP I sell the Orange Spice Masala Chai in a 9 ounce reusable clamp top jar, it holds a full 2 1/2 ounces of loose leaf tea.
During shipping, the finer particles of spices may settle to the bottom, be sure to tip the bottle over before using to keep the spices blended evenly.
