Preheat oven to 320 F
Prepare a bundt pan or decorative cake pan. Spray release spray, then dust with fine bread crumbs, Then a layer of finely chopped nuts. (about 3/4 cup chopped pecans or walnuts)
In a large bowl combine:
1 yellow cake mix
1 package of instant vanilla pudding (the small 3.25 oz. size)
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup dark rum
1/2 cup light vegetable oil
4 eggs
Bake 1 hour, test with skewer for doneness, makes a difference if you are using 2 regular cake pans, or a larger mold.
Meanwhile, in a saucepan, melt 1 cube of butter, 1/4 cup water, 1 cup sugar. Boil about 5 minutes. Remove from heat add 1/2 cup dark rum
Keep sauce warm, or make right before cake is done.
Turn out the warm cake onto a wire rack over a rimmed pan.
Poke cake all over with a skewer.
Baste cake slowly until all the glaze is absorbed.
Wrap in Saran wrap and rest.
