I am part Native American, Yurok Tribe from the Klamath River area. That is probably what has brought out my love of herbs and natural textiles. My fiber art has become a passion and my favorite piece to date is titled ‘Lahaina Sunset’ which I sewed after the big Lahaina Fire. My family and I lived on Maui for many years and I attended King Kamehameha III Elementary school in Lahaina when I was 10. Lahaina has many fond and nostalgic memories.

I inherited my grandfather’s love of gardening as well as his collection of organic gardening and herb books. Although interested, I only had time for a small summer garden and herbs grown in pots on the window sills. Now that I have moved to Brookings Oregon, I have the room and the time to devote myself full time to the study and growing of herbs, and the drying, mixing, and grinding of herbs for teas as well as culinary and homeopathic and naturopathic uses.
From my studies I have learned that many herbs, spices, and oils have amazing healing properties. I am not a doctor and am not giving medical advice, but have seen and read accounts of diseases such as asthma, allergies, digestive issues, lupus, fibromyalgia, rheumatoid arthritis, heart disease, even cancer has been treated and eased or cured with a dietary regime that includes a high intake of herbs and spices. Along with skin and body care using essential oils and ingredients free of industrial pathogens, chemicals, parabens, and petroleum byproducts.
My philosophy here at Foothills Herbal & Apothecary is that I do not want anything ON my body that I wouldn’t want IN my body. The herbs, spices, nuts, oats & flours, fruits, and oils I purchase are non GMO, organic when possible, locally produced when possible, otherwise Fair Trade sourced. Other ingredients used in the dips, sauces, teas, rubs, balms, creams, scrubs, and oils are food grade, all natural plant based oils, colorings, clays, extracts, scents & glycerins. No chemical preservatives or additives are used unless strictly necessary for safety as needed, in which case it will clearly be indicated on the label and description.
Each product I make is personally selected, picked, ground, mixed in small batches by hand. ** NO ANIMAL TESTING **I am not organic certified, the plant seeds I purchase are organic heirloom varieties grown using organic practices.
